About Our Chapter
Our local chapter, the Blue Knights, Inc., New Jersey Chapter One was formed in 1975 by 15 police officers from the Willingboro Police Department in Willingboro, New Jersey. Chapter One now covers two counties: Burlington and Camden, with 54 members in 2007. There are presently twelve Blue Knight Chapters in the State of New Jersey.
These members include officers from municipal, city and town police departments, prosecutor's offices, county and sheriff's offices, bridge police, New Jersey state police, and the F.B.I.
Each local chapter picks a local charity to work for, or supports the International Charity, which is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We hold two charity events each year. Our annual picnic raises funds for the local Meals on Wheels, and our annual toy run benefits Cooper Hospital Child Life Center. The rest of the year we support the other Blue Knight Chapters and organized clubs in their charity events.
No member of the club receives any monetary benefit from any of these events. In fact, every member pays out of his or her own pocket to attend the charity events sponsored by other clubs. The costs of our annual fund raising event is paid for by the club treasury and donations from area businesses. New Jersey One extends a special thank you to Barb's Harley-Davidson/Buell of Camden County and Trey Conte of Be A Biker for supporting our chapter.
Our chapter meetings are held in Willingboro, NJ on the second Tuesday of every month.
